Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how G1 Prep (“G1 Prep”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and services (the “Service”). G1 Prep is a study aid for the Ontario G1 driver’s licence knowledge test: the course is free to read, while practice exams, practice questions, and flashcards require an account and a paid pass. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Government of Ontario or the Ministry of Transportation (MTO).
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
You can read the entire course without an account. To use practice exams, practice questions, or flashcards you must sign in and buy a pass. When you sign in we use Google Sign-In and receive basic profile information from Google: your name, email address, and profile picture. We do not receive or store your Google password.
Billing information
When you buy a paid pass, payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not collect or store your full payment-card number. We receive only limited billing details from the processor — such as a confirmation of payment, the type and last digits of your card, and which pass you bought — so we can manage your access and provide receipts and support.
Progress and study data
When you use the Service we record your study activity so you can track your progress, including completed lessons, practice-exam attempts and scores, flashcard results, study time, and learning streaks. If you are not signed in, this data is stored only in your browser’s local storage and never leaves your device. If you are signed in, this data is synced to our servers so it is available across your devices.
Information collected automatically
For signed-in users we store technical details tied to your login session, such as your IP address and browser user-agent, to keep your account secure and maintain your session. We use only the cookies necessary to operate the Service (for example, to keep you signed in). We do not use advertising cookies.
Information you choose to publish
Some features let you explicitly share content — such as a completion certificate or a public profile at /u/<handle>. Anything you publish is intended to be publicly accessible. Your profile and progress remain private unless you choose to publish a specific item, and you can revoke shared items at any time.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
- process pass purchases and payments, and provide receipts and support;
- save your progress and sync it across your devices;
- authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- generate certificates and public content you choose to create;
- diagnose technical problems and improve the Service;
- send you service messages (such as billing, security, and account notices); and
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.
3. How your information is shared
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed for them to perform their functions:
- Google — authentication (Google Sign-In);
- Payment processor — to process pass payments securely;
- Hosting and database providers — to host the application and store your synced progress.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the Service.
4. Data retention
We keep your account and progress data for as long as your account is active. You can clear or reset progress at any time from the in-app Settings page, and you can delete your account to remove your personal data from our servers. Data stored locally in your browser can be cleared by resetting your progress or clearing your browser storage. Some information may be retained where necessary to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.
5. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or by contacting us at privacy@g1prep.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
6. Communications and marketing
We may send you service-related messages that are necessary to operate your account — for example, billing receipts, renewal and payment notices, security alerts, and important changes to the Service. You cannot opt out of these while you have an active account, as they are required to provide the Service.
We will only send you marketing or promotional messages where we have your consent or are otherwise permitted under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing message includes an easy way to unsubscribe, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe you have found a security vulnerability, please report it to security@g1prep.com.
8. Children’s privacy
The Service is intended to help people prepare for the Ontario G1 knowledge test, for which the minimum age is 16. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. International users
G1 Prep is operated for users in Ontario, Canada. If you access the Service from outside Canada, your information may be processed and stored in Canada or other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact us
